Stone Glen

By Jeannette Bender, Former Secretary of the Dauphin-Middle Paxton Historical Society

Stone Glen Station or Stony Glen Station was part of the railroad stations along the route in Stoney Creek Valley. Searching through records looking for information on the Stone Glen Station was almost impossible. With the aid of Charles Fry of Stoney Creek we have the following:

The Stone Glen Station was situated along Stoney Creek road where the railroad would pass. It was the next station to Singersville, which is approximately three miles away. It sits on what is now the Boyd's property in the 1400 Block of Stoney Creek Road. Charles Fry recalls the station being taken down sometime in the late 1950's.

I'm not sure where the word Stone Glen originated from. There is a church that is called Stone Glen Church of God. This church was organized October 1839 as the "Stoney Creek Church of God;" there are no records indicating when the name was officially changed to "Stone Glen Church of God." There is also a road sign "Stone Glen Road;" this is located near the Stone Glen cottages. The cottages at one time were summer houses for people that lived in Harrisburg. They are now year around homes and are part of the Stone Glen Cottages Association; a PA non-profit corporation.
